OUGD602 // BCNMCR Exhibition

Barcelona & Manchester exhibition at twenty twenty two has been a massive event which has been taking place over the last month. Along with the exhibition they held talks, I wanted to go to these but Dialogue was on the same night so unfortunately I couldn't.

Whilst I was in Manchester at the studio visit, I thought I might as well go along and have a look at the work, the exhibition space is just around the corner from the studio so it fit in well. The exhibition showcases work from studios and designers abroad. It was really interesting to see, because all the artwork was placed in different rooms within a bar and ping pong room. Even though I initially didn't think it would work, it was great to see and fit the style of the bar. Work was hung on the walls within frames, but there was a side room off the bar which had the work pinned up on wooden structures - this was great to see and a really good way to present the work.

The styles of the work were all different, but all equally as good as each other, some were vector based, other images and some were some really nice shots of branding. As a whole the work looked really good and there was a lot of it.

The side room had work displayed on wooden stands.

Within this area there was a small room at the side which was all enclosed, when you walked in there were two images on the wall, with a sign to turn the light off.

Images on the wall with the light turned on.

When you turned the light off the image was exposed to the light and completely changed. This was amazing! I stood there for ages turning the light on and off trying to figure out how it was done.

I think its to do with light sensitive inks, as the posters were screen-printed.

Twenty Twenty Two - a great venue for an exhibition like this. Definitely have to go back again to see future exhibitions.

OUGD602 // Working Progress

As part of the course we used the exhibition space in the lobby area of the university to put on our own exhibition.

The idea behind the exhibition was it to be a working progress - hence the name. The exhibition was to show the process that us as graphic designers go through to create design work. As work is created it would be put up on the walls to be displayed as the exhibition.

The exhibition went on for a month and we created a exhibition working group that was in charge of the exhibition and organising it. I was apart of this team as I felt it would help me within the exhibition I am putting on with Eve in one of our collaboration briefs.

On the last day of the exhibition we held a closing night, this displayed all the work created in the time the exhibition had been running and was a great success.

Leeds Print Festival took place over the weekend of the 24th January. Within the print fair on the saturday our course had our own table to display work on and sell.

I wanted to make the most of this opportunity and see if I could sell any of my work / get some interest in my work.

The most recent printed work that I could use was the poster I created as part of the COP module. I think these are some of the best prints I have designed are printed anyway, as they have a good concept behind them.

These posters were A2 format, printed on various GFSmith stock. It was a two colour print, using black and fluorescent orange. I put the poster up for sale for £10, which I thought was reasonable for the size and stock used on the print.

Unfortunately none of the prints did sell, but it was still good to have my work there on show and know that there was some interest in the idea behind them.
