This is just a collection of work i have seen when browsing through design sites. They have got me thinking in some way about what i could produce for this brief.

Speaking from experience//Questionnaires
As part of my research i wanted to get real evidence to support the concept that i am going to be doing/creating for this brief.
To start off with i wrote a questionnaire for college students about starting university and asking questions to suggest the sort of information they would like to receive and in what way to present it. I have posted this out over social networking websites and contacted my old college to ask them to fill in the survey too.
The questions:
To start off with i wrote a questionnaire for college students about starting university and asking questions to suggest the sort of information they would like to receive and in what way to present it. The questions:

OUGD402//Speaking from experience
Today we got given a new brief, which was for the PPP module, we haven't really had much studio time on this module apart from the few workshops we have done.
This brief is to produce a graphic response that makes a statement, comment, observation or gives advice about my experience of my first year on this course. It will be for the first years next year.
Brief
produce a graphic response/graphic product/body of work that makes a statement, comment, observation or gives advice about your experience on your first year of this course.
You will need to identify appropriate content, and develop/identify appropriate media/formats that will effectively deliver your concept to next years new first years. Will it be entertaining, advisor, informative or instructional?
Background / Considerations
Think about the new experiences that you have had, the difficulties that you have overcome and the new people you have met and the life skills you have acquired this year.
Remember what it was like starting your first week, how did you feel and what emotions did you experience? Excitement, trepidation, fear or did you feel overwhelmed. You might have benefited from some advice, opinions and insight from others that have experienced the same transition.
What might you say, do or give to next years graphic design students to make the transition into the student experience, particularly this course more welcoming?
Mandatory Requirements
Enjoy the process of reviewing your year.
All work should be documented on your PPP blog and labeled 'Speaking from experience'.
Deliverables
Resolved design solutions in a format and media appropriate to your concept.
3-5 A2 presentation boards communicating the product, range and methods of distribution of your concept (pdf versions should be posted to your PPP blog.)
Evidence of Design development in the form of design sheets, support work, notebooks, prototypes etc. documented on your PPP blog.

From this briefing we did a small workshop where we looked back over the year and made lists of different things fred asked us.
list the lists.
After this workshop we were given free rain of it and went away to start the brief.
We have a crit on friday which is a concept crit, for this we have to have:
3 messages which we want to deliver in response to the brief
- each message should have - 5 reasons why and 5 ways in which delivered
3 problems in response to the brief
- 5 reaons and 5 ways in which to solve this.

book binding//sketchbook
As part of an ongoing brief i wanted to find a new way to bind booklets together instead of doing the good old saddle-stitching, so i found this technique online. After doing a practice run and getting the right materials/thread to do the binding, i decided to make myself a sketchbook, which in turn turned out very well. I love the finish that this binding has on the booklet, i can see myself using this technique all the time now. It was very enjoyable to do, especially the hand craft feel to it, which is everything i love within graphic design myself.
As you can see the binding has worked really well and held the book together, on this occasion i think i was trying to bind together too many pieces of paper because right near the end my needle broke, but i still manage to finish the binding off.

Lines//Triangle designs
As part of the front cover design for the project i am on going with, i did some experimentation with lines and triangles, which i enjoyed doing and found the outcomes of these were visually good. So i carried on this experimentation as a self directed study, which i am still going to carry on.
To start with i have just used a triangle, but i will try other shapes too.
From this i am going to try and experiment with more shapes and then i am going to foil block these onto some nice stock, or try experimenting with printing process too.
